May month’s Made in Henley is: Food Infusions. A big thank you to Ox Botha for answering my questions.
Tell us about Food Infusions, when you started?
My business actually started as a passion for food and relishes. I played around with recipes till I finally perfected the flavour I wanted. I offered it to friends and family to try, and the responses were quite amazing and encouraging. I hadn’t yet realized the potential for my sauces, but my pasion for food and quality ingredients led me to open Henley Deli.
We were in the swing of opening the Deli when COVID arrived, bringing many curve balls with it. I had stocked my Oxbones Sauces in the Deli and offered it as an accompaniment to our famous steak and chicken rolls at our beer garden. The feedback from the locals was so positive and the demand grew so much, that even after selling the Henley Deli, I continued to make Oxbnes for some customers that had becoe “die hard fans”. It was the support of these people that inspired me to keep trying new ideas and developing more products which led to the start of Food Infusions.
In 2023 Food Infusions came into form with a product range that then included Oxbones sauces and some taste relishes.
These were soon followed with our SPLASH Suaces which are the perfect partner to various dishes with unique flavours like Dark Chocolate Chilli, Citrus Habanero, Soy’s Wasabi and Fiery Birdseye. I’ve just developed a Cherry and Ghost Pepper sauce that is coming soon in my new “hot chilli”range. We’ve also just released a Moruga relish, moruga scorpion chillies.
I have had the good fortune of working closely with a gifted spicologist to develop our range of sensational spices and seasonings and the results have been nothing short of spectacular.
I have been so blessed by the support and encouragement of family, friends, and this amazing community. I’m looking forward to more opportunities to delight taste buds and bring magic to meal time for many years to come.
